What a great day

Well, the Kitchen and Garden Tour was a big success. It’s not every day you get to visit an 80 year old wisteria with a vine the size of a tree trunk!! The weather wasn’t perfect but could have been a whole lot worse!

For us, the day was nice and smooth. We were ready in time and people seemed to enjoy the house. I know we really enjoyed showing it to everyone. Over the next few days I’ll share the names and talents of some of the people who helped make our house special. You’re going to love the work they do! I’ll have plenty of pictures too! In the meantime, let me know what you want to know about the house, the furnishings or the garden. And if you went on the tour, what did you think? For now, I’m kicking off my shoes, pouring an overly generous glass of wine and….NOT making a list of things that need to get done. Yea!

till next time,

  1. We were very impressed with your beautiful home during yesterday’s Fan Kitchen & Garden Tour. Thanks for opening up your home to us. It was definitely one of the very best on the tour.

  2. Hi Jennifer! I am a friend of Holly Kidwell’s and I saw your cushions and pillows she made before they went to your house and I just couldn’t wait to see the rest! I visited your house 3 times on the tour!! I just couldn’t get enough!! The kitchen was my fave…the dining room was so yummy, the room w/ your loom made we want to sit and knit (I don’t weave) and the porch and garden made me want to sit and drink wine with you! I met your husband at another house along the way and I couldn’t shut up about how in love with your house I was! You have a real talent for decorating! I loved the stars in the “loom room” – I hope you leave them up? At least for awhile? You’ve inspired me to get to work on my own house! Holly’s promised to help so we’ll see how it goes! Please post more pics!!!!

  3. Thanks Michael! We had a great time getting ready for the company!

  4. Hi Wendy,

Wow! Thanks for loving the house as much as we do! Holly was just awesome — she is so creative with fabric. Having the right pillows just pulled everything together for me.

The stars are up for an extended stay! Yea! We started with glitter stars a year or two ago for the winter and just loved the way it added some fun to the room. But the glitter said more “winter” and less “garden” to me so we went with the moss. So now we have seasonal stars! :) By the way, my favorite florist, Deanna at Strawberry Fields, was the brain and floral adhesive applier behind the stars. I’ve got her link in my blogroll in case you don’t know about her. And the star-hanging was all thanks to Very Patient Husband.

I’ve just posted more pictures and have a bunch more to come. Keep me posted on what you and Holly do at your place! A blog tour of homes!
